Jefferson Andrew Smith is here!!!

Jefferson made his way into this world in a big way on March 22nd at 10:51 p.m.!! I went to the doctor earlier that day just to find out that I had not progressed a whole lot but that the doctor would set up time for me to be induced the next morning if I wanted. Well that's definitely what I wanted. I was overdue and ready to go.
We left the appointment and went home to get everything completely ready for the baby. We went to Wingers and had hot wings (this put me into labor with Paige) and walked around Costco for about 1/2 hour. I felt a couple little contractions there but nothing huge. After we left, at around 8:00 p.m., as we were driving I started having contractions about every 5 minutes. Some were strong and some were really mild. I really didn't want to go all the way to Utah Valley Regional just to be sent home so we went home and got kids ready for bed. Well the contractions kept coming about every 5 minutes and started to get stronger. By 9:00 I decided that it was time to go to the hospital. We waited for about 15 minutes for my sister to come and get the kids and then we headed out. By this point the contractions were really strong and I was hating life!!
On the way to the hospital the contractions for about 1 1/2 minutes apart and they were strong!! Every time I had one I could feel Robert step on the gas! hehe! We got to the hospital and parked out front, ran in, and found that they had the security desk set up because it was past 9 and there was a line that we thought we would need to wait in. Well as soon as we got up to the line another bad contraction hit and Robert said I groaned out loud and that got the security guard up and escorting us to the elevator.
We got up there and when Robert said "My wife is going to have a baby, like right now!" They were calling to get rooms ready and nurse in there. I told them I didn't want to feel anymore pain and get me meds now!! We checked in at 9:40. I was 6 cm and in the worst pain of my life. I was shaking so bad. The anesthesiologist get me medicated but it only worked on my right side so there I was a few minutes later at 9 cm still feeling the pain in my left side. They got more, and I believe stronger meds, in me and I was SO RELIEVED!!!! My doctor checked me when I got to 9 cm and said "I think I will just hang out. I think this baby will be out soon!" He was right!
When it was time to push he told me to pull my legs up and out came the head ...without a push! Then I pushed once and the baby was here! I was at the hospital 1 hour and 10 minutes when the baby was born. It was all so fast!! Then the baby was breathing right so they took him to the ICU to put him on a breathing machine. I saw him for just a few seconds before they rushed him off and then didn't see him again for 3 1/2 hours. Because of how fast it went and then not seeing him I was starting to wonder if I dreamed it all!
But I didn't!! I have a sweet little baby boy!! He was 7 lbs. 15 oz. and 19 1/2 inches!! He's super sweet and very patient with his very excited and smoldering big sister and brother. :-) Having 3 kids is quite the adjustment, I hope I get used to it soon! But I love them all so much. It's surprising to have a baby and find that you can love another child as much as you love the ones you have!! We are so happy he is here and with our family!!
